What is Airgead don Scoil?
Airgead don Scoil is a voluntary annual contribution of no more than €100 per family, generously made to the school by parents of children attending Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn. The monies are collected and administered by the Coiste (Parents Committee) on behalf of the Board of Management.
Requests for funds can come from a number of sources.
∙ A need identified by the Board of Management e.g. operational funding and school maintenance.
∙ A need identified by the Principal e.g. purchasing school/sports equipment;
∙ A need identified by a Teacher(s) e.g. supplementing learning resources;
∙ A need identified by the Coiste e.g. Allianz 24 hr Accident Insurance;
“What’s in the best interests of the children” is the guiding principle on which all decisions regarding Airgead don Scoil are made. A collaborative process between the Coiste (representing parents) and the Board of Management (representing the school) has existed since the establishment of the school and through a spirit of mutual respect and co-operation has worked extremely well. It has meant a level of parental involvement in the school unique to Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn.
In the interests of transparency and accountability full details of how monies are saved/spent in any given school year are presented at the Coiste AGM; held every September/October to which all parents are invited to attend.
Important Note to Parents on behalf of the Coiste: Although the Coiste would encourage parents to pay what they can afford of the Airgead don Scoil it is important to note that this is a voluntary contribution and so is entirely at the parents’ discretion. No child or parent has been or will be identified or penalised in any way for non-payment of the Airgead don Scoil.
The Coiste would like to thank you for your generous support!
