Stair Ghaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn

Bhunaigh Roinn an Oideachais Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn i 1993. Bunaíodh an scoil mar thoradh ar éileamh na dtuismitheoirí le h-aghaidh Gaelscoil ilchreidmheach i gceanntar an Ghoirt Álainn. B’é seo an chéad Gaelscoil ilchreidmheach a bunaíodh sa Stát.

Chruthaíodh comhlacht teoranta, Foras Pátrúnachta na Scoileanna LánGhaeilge, chun feidhmiú mar phátrún na scoile. Tá an coras pátrúnachta seo ag riaradh cuid mhaith Gaelscoileanna ar fud na tíre anois, scoileanna ilchreidmheacha, idirchreidmheacha, agus scoileanna le étos Chaitliceach ina measc.

Osclaíodh na doirse de Ghaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn ar 1 Mean Fómhair 1993. Bhí 33 páistí agus beirt oide sa scoil don chéad bhliain. Tá fás tapaigh tagtha ar an scoil mar thoradh ar an spéis áitiúil ann, agus tá 16 múinteoirí postaithe le 306  páistí anois.

Tá an scoil páirteach i ngluaiseacht Oideachas le Chéile ón tús. Is ceann-eagras na scoileanna ilchreidmheacha go léir sa tír é Oideachas le Chéile. Bunaíodh an chéad scoil acu i nDeilgine i 1978, agus tá Oideachas le Chéile ag fás o shin le beagnach fiche scoil ann anois.

Tá Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn páirteach leis an eagras Gealscoileanna chomh maith. Tá fás suntasach ar líon na nGaelscoileanna ó tús na h-ochtódaí. Tá cothromaíocht spreagúil idir an oidhreacht shaibhir chultúrtha, agus dearcha nua-aoiseach an oideachais sna Gaelscoileanna.

Tacaíonn Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn le cúig bhunphrionsabail láidir don oideachas feidhmeach. Leanbh-lárnachas, cothromaíocht agus comhionnanas gnéise, bainistíocht agus coras cinniúna daonlathach, étos ilchreidmheach, agus an Ghaeilge mar theanga na scoile.

The history of Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn

Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn was established by the Department of Education in 1993. The school was founded in response to parental demand for a multi-denominational Gaelscoil in the Mayfield area. It was the first Multi-Denominational Gaelscoil established in the State.

A limited company, called Foras Pátrúnachta na Scoileanna LánGhaeilge, was formed by Gaelscoileanna to act as patron for the school. This patron body now manages a large number of Gaelscoileanna throughout the country, including inter-denominational, multi-denominational, and schools with a Catholic ethos.

Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn opened its doors on 1 September 1993. There were 33 pupils and two teachers in the school that first year. The school has grown quickly in response to local interest and now employs 16 teachers and 2 SNA’s working with 306  pupils.

The school is affiliated to the Educate Together (ET) movement since the outset. ET is the umbrella organisation for all the multi-denominational schools in the country. The first such school was established in Dalkey in 1978 and ET has now grown into a network of almost twenty schools.

Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn is also affiliated to the Gaelscoileanna movement. Since the early 1980s there has been a phenomenal growth in the number of Gaelscoileanna. Gaelscoileanna strike an exciting balance between a rich cultural heritage, and a modern educational outlook.

Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn promotes five essential principles of sound educational practice. Child-centred education, co-education and gender equity, democratic management and decision making, multi-denominational ethos, agus an Ghaeilge mar theanga na scoile.
