Cork City F.C

Bhí na páistí at bís tar éis an deireadh seachtaine nuair a tháinig Johnny Dunleavy ó Cork City FC isteach.
The children were over the moon when Cork City soccer star Johnny Dunleavy came to visit the school with the two FAI League and Cup trophies. He spoke at length to the children and they had a lot of questions. Rang 3/4 were even lucky enough to have an extra special visit with just our class!!

Amhránaíocht agus Ceol den scoth i Mayfield Community School 

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as cuairt a chur ar Mayfield Community School le deanaí Bhí cór scoile Mayfield Community School ag canadh agus bhíodar an mhaith. Chomh maith le sin bhí grúpa ón Mayfield Men’s Shed agus bhaineamar an taitneamh as canadh in éineacht leo. Sa deireadh chan grúpa Meiricéanach as Saint Mary’s Springs High School as Wisconsin. Bhíodar go hiontach ar fad idir grúpaí canadh agus banna ceoil bhaineamar an taitneamh astu.
We really enjoyed our recent visit to Mayfield Community School. Their school choir sang which was wonderful and along that we really enjoyed joining in with the singing group from Mayfield’s Men’s Shed. Finally an American singing and music group came on stage and we were mesmerised. Saint Mary’s Springs High School from Wisconsin were brilliant and we really enjoyed the day of music and fun.

Lá Glas do Lá Fhéile Padraig 2018 

An Dara Brat Glas

Tá gach éinne sa rang an bhrodúil as an dara brat glas atá bainte amach ag an scoil. Bhuaigh Leon agus Culann comórtas ealaíne mar chuid don iarracht agus fuair Kaci agus Kacie teastas don obair ar fad atá déanta acu ar an gcoiste. Maith sibh go léir.
Everyone in the class is very proud of the school for achieving our second green flag. Leon and Culann won an art competition as part of the Green Flag efforts and Kaci and Kacie received a certificate for their hard work on the Green Schools committee over the past two years. Well done to everyone.

Chuairt ar an Lifetime Lab

Chuamar ar chuairt chuig an Lifetime Lab le deanaí agus bhí ceardlann den scoth ar siúl ann bunaith ar an t-aigéin. Bhí turgnaimh, staidéár ar learscáileann agus fiú amháin scrúdú ar iontaise á dhéanamh againn. Beidh an rang ag tosnú ar tionscadail i ngrúpaí go luath bunaithe ar an t-aigéin. Táimid ag súil go mór leis.

We went on a visit to the Lifetime Lab recently and we took part in a wonderful workshop on the ocean. There were experiments, studies on maps and even the investigation of fossils. The class will now be working in groups on ocean related projects. We are all really looking forward to getting to work on them.

 

Lá Idirnáisiúnta na mBan 2018/ International Women’s Day 2018 

Chaitheamar roinnt do Lá Idirnáisiúntas na  mBan ag plé dul chun cinn mná at fud an domhain agus na feabhsaithe fós atá uainn. Phléamar mná cáiliúla ar nós JK Rowling, Malala Yousafzai agus daoine eile. Bhaineamar an taitneamh as agus bhí ionadh ar mhúinteoir Eilish ar na smaointí nua a bhí ag na páistí. Maith sibh!

We spent some of International Womens Day discussing the place of women in the world and their achievements. We also discussed the further progress needed. We discussed inspirational famous women such as JK Rowling and Malala Yousafzai amongst others. We enjoyed the discussion and Múinteoir Eilish was really impressed with the suggestions and points of the class. Well done! Future leaders amongst us for sure!

Drámaíocht sa Bhéarla – This is Your Life

Although none of the children had ever heard of the TV show This is Your Life they really enjoyed taking part in an oral language drama lesson based on the concept of the show. We had some real life facts mixed with some great presenters and actors and a lot of fun was had by all! Maybe we’ll inspire the makers of the show to bring it back!

 Mórshiúl 2018 

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as an mórshiúl Dé Máirt seo caite sa bhaile mór. Bhí gach éinne chomh brodúil as an nGaeilge atá again agus as ucht an teanga beo bríomhar atá inti. Bhí alán scoile agus grupaí eile in éineacht linn.

 

Cork City Womens FC

Chuireamar fáilte mhór roimh Cork CIty Womens FC a bhuaigh an corann FAI i Mí na Samhna. Bhí alán ceisteanna ag na daltaí agus fuaireadar obairbhaile saor freisin!

We were all thrilled to welcome members of the Cork City WFC team who won the FAI cup in November. The children had lots of questions and they even got homework off!

Comhghairdeas le Leon agus Liam!

Comhghairdeas le Leon agus Liam a bhuaigh comórtas ealaíne bunaithe ar an bhfarraige. Chuir siad isteacht sa chomórtas seo nuair a bhíodar i Rang 2/3 le Múinteoir Nóirín. 

Seachtain Eolaíochta 2017

Bhí deis againn an chuid rudaí deasa a dhéanamh le haghaidh Seachtain Eolaíochta i mbliana. Bhí ceardlann Lego den scoth á dhéanamh againn agus ceardlann Fuinneamh ón Lifetime Lab freisin. D’fhoglaim gach éinne alán rudaí nua agus cabhraigh sé go mór linn len ár himeachtaí don Bhrat Glas freisin. 

Carúil Nollag 

Bhain gach éinne an taitneamh as a bheith ag canadh mar chuid don thaispéantas Glow sa chathair roimh an Nollag.

Féile na Bliana

Rosh Hashana – Bliain Nua na Giúdaigh

Rinne Rang 3/4 céiliúradh ar bhliain Nua na Giúdaigh do Fhéile na Bliana i mBliana. Féile Cristín a bhí ann. Braithfimid uainn thú a Christín, a chara!

3/4th class celebrated Rosh Hashana the Jewish New Year as part of our Annual Festival of Festivals – this year Féile Cristín! We’ll miss you Múinteoir Cristín!!

Seachtain Sábhailteacht ar Bhóithre

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as an tSeachtain Sábhailteacht ar bhóithre nuair a chuamar go dtí Halla na Cathrach chun páirt a ghlacadh i gceardlann Streetsmart. Bhí an béim ar néamhspleachas na páistí ó thaobh sábhailteacht de toisc go bhfuil siad ag éirí níos sine agus níos aibí. Chuamar thíos chuig Halla na Cathrach ar an mbus agus bhaineamar an taitneamh as seo freisin.

Road Safety Week took place from October 9th to October 13th and Cork City Council in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority hosted a Streetsmart workshop in Cork City Hall  with an emphasis on promoting greater safety on our roads and seeking to reduce the high number of fatalities, especially in the Cork area. Rang 3/4 were very lucky to be able to attend this and we had a great time. We went into town on the Number 8 which in itself caused great excitement and all of the children got their Streetsmart Licence!!!
