Nóta maidir leis na scoileanna a bheith dúnta go dtí 1 Feabhra 2021
A thuismitheoirí!
Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh ar fad go breá?! Mar is eol díobh faoin dtráth seo, tá na scoileanna dúnta anois go dtí an 1 Feabhra ar a laghad agus tá seans ann nach mbeimid ar ais ar scoil ar an dáta sin fiú.
Tá foireann scoile Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn ag smaoineamh le fada ar na slíte is fearr gur féidir linn obair libh agus leis na páistí chun cabhrú libh sa bhaile ag an am seo agus cianteagasc ar siúl. Táimid tar éis ár ndícheall a dhéanamh chun struchtúr oiriúnach do na riachtanais atá agaibh sa bhaile a chur le chéile.
Beidh seesaw á núsáid againn anois ach mar a bhí ann cheana ní chóir aon brú a chur ort féin nó ar na páistí chun an obair seo a chríochnú. Ní deireadh an tsaoil é muna néiríonn leat an obair ar fad a chríochnú.
Ag deireadh, ní féidir múinteoireacht ceart a dhéanamh sa chomhthéacs seo, nílimid ach ag iarraidh ár ndícheall a dhéanamh.
Tá súil agam go raibh saoire álainn agaibh ar fad agus go mbuailfimid le chéile in ár scoil álainn nua arís go luath.
Tabhair aire.
Le gach dea ghuí.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope this message finds you safe and well. The Department of Education have recently announced that schools will remain closed until at least February 1st 2021.
Our school will implement the following as we strive to ensure that the children in our care are looked after properly in these circumstances
As a staff, we are committed to supporting our children during these challenging times. The initial plan, as we begin the remote learning process, is below:
Please be aware that although we feel it important that all children are involved in the remote learning experience as arranged by class teachers, we also fully understand that the arrangements that the school is making may not suit all families.
We completely accept that the realities of the current situation and in particular the realities being faced by individual families, supersede all else at this time.
Collection of Books-
- Most classes were sent home with their school books before the Christmas holidays.
There may however be a number of children that were unable to bring their school books home for various reasons. Please email me at gaelscoilga@gortalainn.ie if your child did not bring school books home before the holidays and arrangements will be made to accommodate collection on Monday 11th January, from 12 pm onwards. Books and other requested items will be arranged in the school hall and someone will be able to call to the school and collect the books then. Unfortunately, parents / children will not be able to go to classrooms at this time.
We are aware that a number of Books belonging to Rang 6 in the mixed class did not go home before Christmas and these books will be available for collection at the school, from 12 on Monday.
Issues with IT equipment – Laptops / tablets.
- Please inform the school if an absence of or lack of IT equipment is causing you problems at home and we will assist you if we can
Seesaw
- Please see the bottom of this note for a number of YouTube videos and guidelines outlining how Seesaw works.
- Starting from Sunday 10th January work will be sent home by teachers for their own class every Sunday evening. These messages will be sent via seesaw and will contain suggested work and activities for the children in their classes.
- Work for the week will be dived into daily expectations by the class teacher and this will be shared with you on Sunday evenings. A daily reminder for the following days work will be posted every day at 2.30 from Monday to Thursday – ie. A reminder of the work to be completed for Tuesday will be sent to parents at 2.30 on Monday.
- Seesaw will be used as a space for children to upload their work for their teacher. This online platform will also allow the teachers to interact with the children in their classes during the week. As with all of our remote learning efforts up until now please put the needs of your family and your child to the forefront of all the decisions that you make in relation to remote learning. Children are encouraged to participate in the lessons and activities as laid out by the school but neither child nor parent should feel under any pressure to get the work completed. Do what you can, when you can.
- Optional activities may also be sent home from the school using our website, school App & email. Please ensure that you’ve downloaded our school app and that your email details are up to date.
- Although parents will be able respond and use Seesaw at any time, teachers will be responding between 9 and 2.30 only, Monday to Friday
- A weekly 10-minute Zoom call with individual classes is also going to be arranged for Fridays. A timetable for these zoom calls will be made out with individual class teachers in the coming days and the focus of these meetings is simply to allow children to connect with each other, to reassure them that they are not alone and to let them know that their school (and their class in particular), is thinking of them. Participation in this call is totally optional and guidelines will be sent home to all parents next week
Finally, please remember that proper teaching cannot take place in these circumstances; we’re all simply trying to do our best for the children.
As is evident from the last few days, we are currently in an ever-evolving situation. Teachers will be coordinating remote learning to try and maintain some form of normality for the children. However, please remember that the priority for everyone at this time is health, safety and wellbeing.
Please don’t hesitate in making contact with me if you have any queries in relation to the above proposed plan. The school email will be checked regularly, as normal.
Wish the children a happy new year from all of us and tell them that we are very much looking forward to their return to school.
Best wishes to you all and stay safe.
Le gach dea ghuí.
