A thuismitheoirí. Nóta 13/02/17
Our school, Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn, is continuing to expand to meet local demand and is entirely essential to rejuvenate and redevelop a community with a growing number of young families.
On Wednesday and Thursday of last week 2 very different articles were published in the Irish Examiner.
The fact of the matter is that the Board of Management of Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Alainn has not been involved in any discussions to have our school moved from its current location.
Late last week The Department of Education informed us of their continued commitment to building a new school for the children in our care and significant progress in achieving this goal has been made in recent months. As we await the construction of our new school, the Department of Education has also stated that it does not have any plans to relocate our school away from its current site in either a temporary or a permanent basis.
The board of management of Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn is satisfied with this commitment and together with the staff, parents and pupils of our school, we eagerly await the imminent construction of a new permanent school building.
Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn enjoys huge support from within the community and will continue to serve this community for generations to come.
Tine i mbothán spórt na scoile / Fire in our school’s sport’s shed.
On Sunday 5th February we lost all our sports equipment which we had gathered and built up over the years after it was destroyed by fire, the cause of which hasn’t been conclusively determined. Items that were stored there included, hockey and uni-hoc sticks, jerseys, helmets, hurleys, footballs, tennis & badminton equipment, basketball and rugby equipment, various balls, games and sporting equipment suitable for all classes etc. Other items such as a large laptop trolly, some old laptops, school books etc were also stored there as we needed to make space in our own school. Many thousands of Euros worth of equipment was lost.
Mar is eol daoibh , bhí tine againn sa scoil ar oíche Dé Domhnaigh 5 Feabhra 2017. Ní fios cad ba chúis leis an tine ach chailleamar ár bhfearas spóirt go léir a bhí bailithe againn agus curtha le chéile ó thosach na scoile. Bhí na míllte Euro d’fhearas againn sa scoiból a ndeachaigh tré thine.
